PIN is a digital tracking system for skip operations. We track skips, along with the vehicles that carry them around. Our software provides customers with the tools to optimise their operations, for both planning and delivery – ensuring that skips are available, in the right locations and in good condition to service customer demand, and also for sales and account management. We do this by visualising customer operations – showing skips on site, the contracts and waste streams they are associated with and how frequently they are serviced. The Problem There are 1.5 million skips operating in the UK, supporting the collection and recycling of millions of tonnes of waste. Skip operations move quickly and the data on where skips are and how they move is captured manually. The result is that skip operators don't know where 50% of their skips are located, and one in four sit idle on unproductive contracts. £100 million each year is spent on buying new skips that shouldn't be needed. Skips costing up to £6,000 each are poorly maintained, compromising the industry's brand and reputation. 14,000 vehicles travel 200 million miles each year carrying skips to and from customers.
